A concussion, or a mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI), is a head injury that impacts the way your brain functions. Concussions are generally caused by a sudden bump, blow or jolt to the head and upper body. This movement causes the brain to move around inside the skull, leading to chemical changes and damage to brain cells.
